Attending Channel Partners Expo
We’ve been going to the show for more than 10 years. Check out our biggest pieces of advice for making it through four nonstop days at the Channel Partners Expo without feeling like a zombie.
Hitting Las Vegas every spring for the Channel Partners Expo is a highlight for trusted advisors such as yourself. The event serves up endless networking, business, and learning opportunities, and offers a great chance to blow off some steam.
But if you want to get through four nonstop days without completely dragging, you’ve got to manage certain aspects with some finesse. Otherwise, you could find yourself making meetings groggy and disheveled or, worse, missing them altogether (believe us, it has happened more than once — it’s not a good look).
So, especially if you’ve never been to the Channel Partners Expo, we’d like to offer some of our top pro tips for making the most of the indirect channel’s biggest — and most fun — annual gathering.
Don’t burn out the first night.
Don’t wait until the event kicks off to start networking. Leverage social media, conference apps, and online forums to connect with attendees beforehand. Remember to contribute meaningfully to discussions, share insights, and, when appropriate, mention your participation in the upcoming channel partner expo. Always adhere to the community guidelines of each forum.
Connecting with attendees beforehand can be highly effective in creating initial awareness and generating interest in your participation. Schedule coffee meetings, virtual introductions, or even quick chats to lay the groundwork for meaningful interactions during the Channel Partners Expo.
But do prepare to party.
Wednesday night, if you’re not aware, is the night most vendors and TSDs hold their blowout parties. The celebrations are pretty epic and many last into the wee hours. If you can, schedule your Thursday meetings for later in the morning. You’ll be glad you did.
The morning Starbucks line is always long. If you must have Starbucks, be prepared to wait. Take your phone so you can respond to messages and get some work done. Look for people you know to chat up; business opportunities could come off the conversation. Or, if you’re surrounded by people you don’t know and they seem willing to talk pre-caffeine, you could make a new contact or two.

Las Vegas casinos and convention centers are infamous for keeping people indoors. But four days is a long time without sun or fresh air.
Take some time during the Channel Partners Expo to stroll the Venetian grounds, or even the Strip, if you have the availability in your calendar. Maybe hold a meeting or two outdoors.
